News Updates today in St Francis Bay

Last night we experienced heavy rain and wind.  Driving in to work today there is alot water covering roads and driveways.  Please keep warm this weekend.

To all our friends and Shekinah family, our brother Bulelani lost everything today when his house burnt down, he'll appreciated anything to help him with, please bantu let's see what we can do to help him, GOD bless all.

2.  ST FRANCIS CONNECT ARTICLE:  Inaugural St Francis Bay Business Forum (meeting)

I have been blown away by this, the first meeting of the SFBBF. A breath of fresh air….initially there is no committee….no chairman, treasurer, etc. etc. What kind of Business Forum is this?
"Well, you see the idea is to have fun and meet people."

…the other half of the room that you don’t know, as Peter Bridges, spokesperson for the “steering group”, put it. And there were a lot of people to meet! This was the second pleasant surprise…there was a huge turnout…I don’t have the numbers but it should be in the region of 200 or so. The idea of the forum is to give all St Francis Business people the opportunity to get together, interact, learn from each other and collaborate, wherever economic sense dictates.

The reason for the informal approach is to not get too bogged down with committees, voting, memberships fees, finances and the like, although these will become part of the forum in time – what is the “steering group” doing at the moment, after all?  At the moment the “steering group” are all people with longstanding businesses in St Francis Bay who have taken it upon themselves to devote time, effort and probably some money to an initiative promoting St Francis Bay and all in it – a noble cause in my book, as long as it is impartial, logical, rational and natural.

And here’s the thing! This is the idea of the forum – issues can be resolved via collaboration among business people – this is the natural way –  "We as business people are the ones who change the landscape and we can, by working together, do the same for St Francis Bay."

The steering committee will be there to encourage this collaboration and to basically ensure that these meetings continue on a regular basis – they are not there as a front to tackle the council on issues.

The forum has one policy: A policy to actively defend any actions that will inhibit future growth of SFB and surrounds by giving open and honest information, and further will not debate issues that are based on opinion. Further the SFBBF will actively promote good business principles across all levels of potential development.

I enjoyed myself last night, and that was the idea of this get-together – I was thinking before the meeting…if the drivers behind this forum want it to succeed they have to make it fun and enjoyable, otherwise the majority of people will stop attending these meetings – I think they have succeeded…I enjoyed myself and met people I have seen around town for years but never had the pleasure of meeting.
I look forward to the next get-together.
