A meeting chaired by Councillor Rheeder at the Sea Vista Community Hall on the afternoon of Tuesday 5th February was held to discuss the possibility of rezoning erf 626 for the building of a primary school.

As you are probably aware the original site in Tarragona Road has now proved to be unsuitable as it is major wetland. As there is now a sense of urgency for this school to be built, Erf. 626 could be rezoned and building could start immediately without an EIA.

Concerned residents attending this meeting raised a number of issues, which were discussed. By the end of the meeting it was generally felt that the residents of St Francis Bay would be better off having a school on the site rather than any other possibilities. If the rezoning goes ahead all concerned residents will be allowed to pass comment. The Residents Association has agreed to act as an interface to look after their interests.

If the go ahead is given, guarantees would have to be given about adequate storm water drainage, security fencing and that the school buildings are built as far away as possible from the properties in Assissi Drive bordering this land.
